Studies

I commenced my academic journey with a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology, establishing a robust foundation in engineering principles. My pursuit of interdisciplinary knowledge then led me to the University of Birmingham, where I earned a Master's Degree with Honours in Biomedical Engineering. This experience was pivotal in shaping my interest in harnessing technology to enhance human well-being.

Further expanding my expertise, I completed a series of courses in Design Thinking and the Art of Innovation offered by the Stanford Technology Ventures Program at Stanford University. This program honed my skills in innovative thinking and problem-solving, which are essential for tackling complex challenges.

My curiosity and commitment to research subsequently guided me to Kingston University London, where I am currently undertaking Ph.D. research in "Developing Methods of Measuring and Parameterising Emotional and Physical States for use in Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)." This research underscores my dedication to integrating technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) with human-centric applications, particularly in advancing automotive safety and user experience.

Industry

My career has been marked by substantial expertise and impactful contributions within the automotive industry. I've had the esteemed opportunity to collaborate with renowned car manufacturers, playing a key role in the design and development of innovative, award-winning seating systems.

This involvement in the automotive sector has enabled me to deeply explore and enhance various aspects of engineering design. My focus has extended to ergonomics, safety, and user experience, ensuring that each project not only meets but exceeds industry standards. My work in this area has been driven by a commitment to excellence, innovation, and the continual improvement of automotive engineering practices.

The experience gained through these collaborations has been invaluable, allowing me to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of automotive technologies and to remain at the forefront of engineering design.

Teaching

As a Lecturer in Design & Manufacturing, specialising in Automotive Engineering, I have had the opportunity to contribute to the academic and practical development of students at various higher education institutions, including Kingston University, Nottingham Trent University, and currently at the University of Hertfordshire.

At the University of Hertfordshire, I also proudly serve as the Programme Leader for the BSc in Automotive and Motorsport Technology.

My teaching portfolio encompasses a diverse range of subjects such as Automotive Engineering, Motorsport, Mechanical Engineering, and Advanced Product Design Engineering & Manufacturing. In my teaching, I emphasise the integration of real-world experiences and knowledge, bridging the gap between theoretical learning and practical application. This approach is designed to prepare students for the dynamic challenges of the automotive industry, fostering skills in innovation, critical thinking, and hands-on problem solving.

My commitment to education is driven by a passion to inspire and equip the next generation of engineers and designers with the tools necessary to excel in their respective fields.

Research

At the heart of my research endeavours lies a deep-seated interest in the automotive sector, with a particular focus on the innovative integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Signal Processing.

My work is dedicated to advancing the fields of Driver Monitoring Systems (DMS), Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), and the burgeoning domain of Connected Autonomous Vehicles (CAVs).

In exploring the application of AI, I aim to develop sophisticated methodologies that enhance safety, efficiency, and user experience in modern vehicles, including CAVs. This involves utilising AI algorithms to interpret diverse human behaviours and physical states, providing crucial insights for the optimisation of DMS. Additionally, I investigate the use of signal processing techniques to accurately analyse sensory data, which is vital for the effective functioning of ADAS and CAVs.

My research extends to understanding and innovating within the realm of connected autonomous vehicles. Here, I focus on how these vehicles communicate with each other and with road infrastructure, aiming to improve traffic flow, reduce accidents, and enhance overall road safety. By integrating AI and advanced signal processing in CAVs, I aspire to contribute significantly to the development of smarter, more intuitive, and safer transportation systems for the future.

Racing

Leading the UH Racing Autonomous - Automated Driving System (ADS) team, I am actively involved in the prestigious IMechE Formula Student AI (FS AI) competition. Our team competes at the iconic Silverstone Circuit, known for hosting the British Grand Prix and MotoGP events. Here, we challenge ourselves annually to engineer and refine autonomous driving systems for high-performance vehicles.

Our success in FS AI not only showcases our expertise in autonomous technology but also underscores our commitment to innovating in the field of automotive engineering. Participating at Silverstone offers us a unique platform to test our developments in real-world racing scenarios, driving forward the future of autonomous racing technology.
